The Flete Estate has given permission for the Holbeton Harriers to make use of some of the private drives for their Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday sessions. Please remember to respect other users and that access is during the Club runs only. Training is coordinated by our head coach, Andy Norris, who is a qualified Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) and a Level 2 Triathlon Coach. Coached interval sessions will take place on Wednesday evenings in the lighter months. Thursday morning is a dedicated couch to 5K group. Sunday runs are social runs. Depending on numbers attending, runners have up to 4 groups to choose from as follows, with the aim being that all groups get back at a similar time:
Group 1 & 2 run a long route, where possible a separate group 1 leader will take some ahead and add a loop.
Group 3 and 4 run a shorter route. Group 4 is a jog/walk group (Couch to 5K) who can adjust their distance according to the group.
Wednesdays at 7pm
Meet outside the Mildmay Colours, inside the pub if it is wet or cold. Winter months will be a headtorch run along the Flete Estate estuary drives and summer months will involve some hill efforts or flat intervals. Our main route is 3.5 mile loop via Flete House, Flete Park and Ford which will be our monthly handicap route during the daylight months. If it's muddy, then bring spare shoes if you want to join us in the pub for a drink afterwards.
Thursdays at 9:15am
This is a dedicated Couch to 5K group. Many attend the Wednesday and Sunday sessions also, but this is often a larger group which offers a gradual progression into running.
Sundays at 9am
Apart from away days on the first Sunday of each month, we meet outside the Mildmay Colours for a run around the Flete Estate or on bridleways and footpaths towards the coast, Luson, Yealmpton and Ermington. There is a list of upcoming runs further down this page. Each month we aim to have an away day meeting at a carpark either at Mothecombe, Noss Mayo or Yealmpton with a cafe get-together at the finish. Distances vary from a 3 mile walk/run group to a 6-10 mile muddy hilly route. There will always be a shorter run/walk option. 4-Aug Away Day – meeting at the Mothecombe Schoolhouse
11-Aug Reverse Low tide Estuary Loop, starting from Holbeton
Flete Fartlek Hills
with plenty of shortcut or out and back options.
Ermington, Clickland, Flete loop, 7.7 mile, short option is to the Black Gate (4.5 mile)
Fleet, Dunstone, Fursdon short loop, 5.3 mile
Fleet, Dunstone, Fursdon long loop, 7.2 mile
Marland, Dunstone, Yealmpton long loop, 7.4 mile
Estuary Loop, 6.8 mile from the Mothecombe Schoolhouse or 5.5 from Holbeton and lifts back from the other runners. Both groups converge at the Green Gate early on.
